Meet The Team

Since 2014, Scott has worked hard to recruit a well-skilled, professional and knowledgeable team. Our multidisciplinary team gives Strathclyde great versatility in the work we can undertake. There is an exceptional amount of skills and experience bound into our tight nit team.
Scott Todd

Scott Todd

Director & Construction Manager

Scott has worked in construction for the past 20 years both on the tools and as a site Engineer then later Project Manager. Working for the largest construction company in the UK, Scott worked on some mammoth earthworks and building project. After gaining his Engineering degree in 2013 from UWS, Paisley, Scotland, Scott soon found himself on a plane to Christchurch to help with the rebuild. After a year working on the rebuild, Scott started Strathclyde, intending to provide the best possible service that Christchurch greatly needed. Scott’s passion is problem-solving. It is an in-house joke that Scott is always on a quest to find a more complex job each time. In his spare time, Scott enjoys smashing tin (weightlifting) and spending time with the family.
Natalie Todd

Natalie Todd

Office Manager

Natalie is a Southland girl who grew up on a sheep and beef farm in the Caitlins. As a youngster, she chipped in on the farm often driving tractors, diggers and trucks which would prove very useful later in life. After gaining a biochemistry degree from UC, Natalie went on to become a Chemistry teacher at ST Bedes where her amazing people skills led her to become Dean. In the early years of Strathclyde, Natalie was our only in-house truck driver. She would often spend after school hours and weekends driving the tipper truck and jumping on the tools. As Natalie’s role has developed to become solely office-based, all this experience has given her a grasp of the business that few Office Managers would have. Natalie has certainly done her fair share of training the boys and even taught our Director Scott how to drive both the Class 2 and 4 trucks. Natalie loves her current role, as it means she can work from home, being able to bring up the kids.
Bruno Todd

Bruno Todd

Mascot

Bruno has been with the company since he was a pup. It’s fair to say the construction industry is all this pooch has ever known. Bruno’s key skill is staying clear of wet concrete, something he learned early in his career. His main role within the team is staff wellbeing, spreading joy wherever he goes. In his spare time, Bruno enjoys swimming, walkies and sleeping.

Michael Barron

Michael Barron

Operations Manager

From day 1 it has seemed like Michael is tailor-made for our team, feeling from the start like he has been here forever. Starting with us as a foreman builder he quickly established himself as a leader thriving for improvement which provided him the opportunity of the Operations Manager role which he has taken in his stride. He’s a team player, a great role model and steadfast in his leadership role with not a hint of ego. Loving a challenge Michael has thrived here managing our wide range of works with the one constant being the thrill he receives when seeing a job well done. While bringing our client’s building dreams to fruition, Michael works hard to put them at ease understanding that building is a huge investment and can be a stressful experience for some.
We’re lucky to have him with his great chat and his passion for making a difference.

Deepthi Sebin

Deepthi Sebin

Quantity Surveyor

Seeking a return to the work force now that her 4 kids have all started school, a fortuitous meeting has brought Dee to Strathclyde. Dee is an extremely hard worker with an organised approach who likes to get everything right, just what you want for a QS. Dee brings an abundance of metal horsepower to the table having a Civil Engineering degree in addition to an NZ Diploma in Quantity Surveyor earned while raising her family. Building has always been a passion for Dee, Civil Engineering was the only option for tertiary education as she wanted to “build cool stuff”, having experience in design work of multi-storey apartment buildings in her native India. We’re grateful Dee chose Christchurch as home; her talents are exactly what we needed to complete our management trio with Scott and Michael.
Mark Aberhart

Mark Aberhart

Fabrication Engineer & Fitter

Mark is our very own GC. With over 19 years of experience as a fabrication engineer, Mark is a master of all things metal. In the past, Mark has built bridges, worked on the container mall, and has done his fair share of EQ strengthening. His attitude is second to none, which has earned him the role of staff rep. Given his amazing skill set, Mark enjoys working for Strathclyde because of the variety of work and the team of “good buggers” around him. When not working, Mark is teaching his kids how to be down to earth and building competition 4×4 trucks.

Cam Capstick

Cam Capstick

Civil Foreman

Cam is our longest serving team member having started with us in 2016. During his time with Strathclyde Cam has worked his way up through the ranks progressing from labourer to truck driver to civil foreman due to his solid work ethic and great attitude. Being the OG that he is Cam instinctively knows and acts on our core values, he’s a salt of the earth type which aligns fantastically with our business. Aside from enjoying a bit of banter on site, Cam is meticulous and is passionate about communicating with our clients so they can be involved in the project while producing work that he can stand back and be proud of. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, living up to his mentor Micky’s high standards.

Core values

Strathclyde provides the most efficient solutions to complex projects. We are committed to building outstanding and durable homes and gardens with integrity and ingenuity, giving Canterbury the service it deserves.

If It's Not Good: It's Not Good Enough

This value is true across the board, from design through construction, from initial consultation to handover and from the office to the sites. We have the same standard for everything we do and GOOD is the least we accept. We hold each other accountable for our high standards and by discussing this value continually, each and every team member is aware of the standard, which is set, that is being the best in the field.

Our Word Is Our Bond

If we say we are going to do something, we do it. Honesty and integrity are our most important values. They underpin everything we do. We must always deliver on our promises.

Think About The Next Guy

All our team leaders have worked on large commercial projects. They have seen first-hand the issues that arise when all trades on a project work towards the same goal. As such, Strathclyde is extremely focused on making life as easy as possible for the next trade to come in (which often is another member of our team). Thinking about the next guy keeps morale high and makes for a smoothly run project.

No Egos

We work as a team, asking each other for help when we need it, supporting each other and sharing each other's wins. Effective communication and openness are at the heart of our team spirit. If we make a mistake, we own it, then we fix it. Focusing on the big picture, which is the successful delivery of our customer’s project, we need to leave egos at the site gate. True collaboration only comes when we can all focus on one single goal. This is the Strathclyde way.

Treat It Like Our Own Home

Our Director Scott is often reiterating this. It can be easy to see a home as just a workplace when you are working there every day. However, we know this is not the case. We all keep reminding each other of the respect that your property deserves.

Adhere To The Heirarchy (Safety - Quality - Speed)

Reinforcing our guarantee. Safety comes first, no exceptions. It is paramount that our team gets home safe each night. Quality is next. We aim for the highest standards and our team strive to uphold this, checking each other’s work and taking time for reflection to get the best outcomes. Speed comes last. We do not cut corners.
